Massachusetts regulator awards first sports betting licence to Encore Boston Harbor

Wynn Resorts’ Encore Boston Harbor has become the first operator to secure a new sports betting licence from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC).

The Category 1 Sports Wagering Operator licence will allow Encore to operate in-person sports betting at its casino property, as well as on up to two online platforms.

Encore must now secure a certificate of operations and meet additional conditions in order to launch sports betting.

Kambi scores sports betting deal with Puerto Rico’s LMG Gaming

Sports betting solutions provider Kambi Group has agreed to provide its sportsbook product to LMG Gaming (LMGG), an entity owned by Puerto Rican media business Liberman Media Group (LMG).

Under the deal, LMGG’s ApuestaPR betting brand will roll out the Kambi sportsbook initially on mobile, with plans to also launch retail sports betting through a network of outlets throughout Puerto Rico.

ApuestaPR will also make use of Kambi’s APIs and marketing tools, as well as utilise a range of marketing opportunities on LMG’s Teleonce television network.

Jade Entertainment to launch BetConstruct-powered Philippine sportsbook

Jade Entertainment and Gaming Technologies has partnered with BetConstruct to launch a new-look sportsbook in the Philippines.

Ontario issues new online gambling licences

Ontario issues new online gambling licences

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has issued a series of new online gambling licences to operators, allowing them to launch in the Canadian province’s market.

Ligtip Limited secured a licence earlier this week, permitting it to roll out its Tonybet brand in Ontario via the Tonybet.ca website. The approval came after Tonybet was also issued a licence in the Netherlands last month.

Elsewhere, Delta iGaming INC was this week awarded a new licence for Delta Bingo and Gaming in the province, while Eclipse Entertainment Limited secured approval for its High Flyer Casino brand.

Genius Sports adds NFL streaming for US operators

Genius Sports has expanded its partnership with the National Football League (NFL) to allow fans in the US to view and bet on select games.

Under the arrangement, Genius will utilise its Watch & Bet service and augmented live video betting products with major sports wagering operators in the US.

The NFL appointed Genius as its exclusive worldwide distributor of real-time official play-by-play statistics in April 2021, granting Genius the rights to distribute low latency video feeds to operators in key international markets. This has now been expanded to include the US.

Colorado sports wagers surpass $500m in October

Colorado sports wagers surpass $500m in October

Consumers in Colorado wagered $526.6m in sports during October, a 7.1% increase on the same month last year.

The state’s monthly handle was higher than the $491.5m spent by players in October 2021 and also 17.0% up from $450.2m in September of this year.

Of this total, $521.8m was bet online, while just $4.8m was wagered at retail sportsbooks in the state.

Arizona betting handle up 49% month-on-month in September

Consumers in Arizona bet a total of $538.0m on sports during September, a 49.0% increase on the previous month.

The September figure was significantly higher than the $361.0m wagered in August and was also the third consecutive month of growth in the state.

Players spent $533.3m betting online during the month, though just $4.0m was wagered at retail sportsbook facilities in the state.
