MaximBet and Genius pen data, marketing and trading deal

Sportsbook operator MaximBet has penned a new data, trading and personalised marketing partnership with sports data and technology business Genius Sports.

Under the terms of the agreement, Genius will provide MaximBet with its PreMatch, LiveData and LiveTrading product offerings, which deliver live feeds and pricing options.

The UK-based business will also supply sports content for MaximBet, including NASCAR, NCAA, EPL, FIBA and the NFL.

The operator will have access to Genius’ NFL product, which includes real-time statistics from the league and the official sports betting data feed. MaximBet also will have access to the official data feed for betting on NCAA sports.

Genius announced similar sports deals with ScoreBreak and Tipsport in July, soon after becoming the official distributor of NCAA data.

MaximBet CEO Daniel Graetzer said that the deal will help the business facilitate its North American growth.

Genius to distribute NCAA data in new partnership with Scorebreak

Sports technology business ScoreBreak has announced a new partnership with data distributor Genius Sports covering collegiate sports data, soon after the business became the official supplier of data from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

ScoreBreak operates a video synchronisation engine that will work in tandem with Genius’s official statistics, allowing customers to access the stat-driven video content from any internet-connected device.

ScoreBreak COO Wes Sims emphasised the value the service would provide to sports professionals in a statement.

Genius Sports expands partnership with Tipsport

Genius Sports has expanded its long-term partnership with Czech sportsbook operator Tipsport.

As part of the expansion, Tipsport has agreed to increase the number of annual events that are covered by Genius Sport’s data and technology products.

In turn Genius Sports will show real-time feeds and pin-point pricing for a number of competitions; including the National Football League (NFL), Euroleague basketball and the English Premier League.

In addition, Tipsport will be able to access Genius Sport’s full NFL product suite, which includes the league’s real-time statistics, its sports betting data feed and its Next Gen Stats product.

Genius Sports appoints former UK Minister to advisory role

Genius Sports has appointed former UK Minister for Sport and the London Olympics Sir Hugh Robertson as advisor to the company.

In his role, which he begins with immediate effect, Robertson will work with Genius Sports’ business advisory council, helping to identify strategic development opportunities and utilise his previous experience.

Before his new appointment, Robertson took on the role of Minister of Sport and the London Olympics in 2010. Following this he became Minister of State in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, where he was responsible for the Middle East, North Africa and counter-terrorism.

Robertson left politics in 2015 and is currently chairman of National Lottery operator Camelot and the British Olympic Association.

Genius Q1 revenue exceeds targets but stock-based costs mean losses grow

Data provider Genius reported Q1 revenue of $85.9m, 59.9% ahead of Q1 of 2021 and 10% above expectations, but stock-based expenses meant its net loss widened almost eightfold.

Betting technology, content and services brought in $49.7m, which was up by 27.4% from Q1 of 2021. The majority of the increase, $7.3m, was due to new customers.

Media technology, content and services experienced the fastest growth, up by 157.3% to $24.1m. This, Genius said, was “primarily driven by the acquisition of new customers in the Americas and Europe primarily for programmatic advertising services, and the inclusion of revenues from recent acquisitions”.

Sports technology and services brought in $12.1m, up 124.0%. Most of this growth was also acquisition-related, with Genius highlighting the acquisition of Second Spectrum.

Looking at a geographical breakdown of revenue, just over half – $44.2m – came from Europe, up 11.3%. The Americas brought in $36.0m, up 246.1%, while revenue from the rest of the w..

Genius expects positive EBITDA and $340m in revenue for 2022

Data provider Genius Sports expects revenue to reach $340m and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of $15m in 2022.

The business announced a number of details about its future outlook in its 2022 investor day today (27 January).

Revenue is set to reach $340m for the year thanks in part to continued growth as 2022 goes on. While revenue for Q1 is projected to be $78m and for Q2 this total is just $68m, the total then rises to $85m in Q3 and $109m in Q4, a busy period that will include both the NFL season and football’s World Cup.

Betting technology, content and services will make up the majority of revenue, bringing in $216m. SPorts technology and services will bring in $49m while projected revenue from media technology and services is $75m.

Like revenue, earnings are also expected to grow as the year goes on. The business expects to be EBITDA negative by $5m in Q1, before recording a total of in $8m in Q2, $9m in Q3 and $3m in Q4.

Genius Sports scores expanded data and live streaming deal with Betway

Genius Sports has expanded its official data, live streaming and fan engagement partnership with Super Group's online sports betting and gaming operator Betway.

Under the deal, Genius Sports will use its LiveData and LiveTrading solutions to deliver real-time data and pricing for the National Football League (NFL) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball.

This will include access to Genius Sports’ full NFL product suite including real-time statistics, proprietary Next Gen Stats (NGS) and official sports betting data feed.

Genius Sports will also provide its digital marketing and bespoke free-to-play tools, allowing Betway to run data-driven campaigns across display, video and connected televisions to help drive deeper engagement levels.
