PMU enters Senegal with National Lottery deal

French horse racing operator Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) has entered Senegal through a partnership with the country’s National Lottery (Lonase).

The omni-channel partnership will allow customers to place bets on horse races offered through PMU, with the same payouts as PMU customers receive in France.

PMU’s betting platform in Senegal will be powered by online sportsbook and technology provider Honoré Gaming, which PMU has extended its existing partnership with.

Honoré Gaming allows operators to target French-speaking countries in Africa through its sportsbook solutions.

PointsBet partners with NBC Sports for landmark dual-market telecast

PointsBet has partnered with media broadcaster NBC Sports to debut its BetCast platform, a duel-market sports betting telecast to be split accros Chicago and Philadelphia.

The first ever BetCast will cover the NBA fixture between the Chicago Bulls and the Philadelphia 76ers, with the live game coverage spread across NBC Chicago and NBC Philadelphia.

PointsBet will supply live on-screen odds data in addition to future odds and player props. Viewers will also have access to PointsBet’s ‘Live Same Game Parlay’ options, giving them the opportunity to place bets while tracking odds, player performance, and team stats in-real time.

The BetCast will also feature alternate commentators to provide a sports betting focus. These include NBC Sports EDGE host Sara Perlman, NBC Sports Philadelphia’s 76ers analyst Jim Lynam, NBC Sports Chicago’s Bulls analyst Kendall Gill and PointsBet’s head oddsmaker Jay Croucher.

Aspire gears up for Dutch launch after receiving certification

Aspire Global has received full certification to operate in the Netherlands, which will see it roll out its player account management platform solution, sportsbook and casino games throughout the country.

The certification will allow Aspire to launch through already-agreed partnerships with operators in the country.

Last year Aspire’s Pariplay platform signed a deal with Holland Casino, one of ten operators to receive a licence from Dutch regulator de Kansspelautoriteit. Under the deal, Pariplay would supply its proprietary games to Holland Casino.

In January Aspire agreed to a deal that will see it make BoyleSports, Ireland’s largest independent bookmaker, live in the Netherlands.

The deal, which will take effect upon Aspire’s entry into the Netherlands, will mean Aspire will provide its full turnkey solutions to BoyleSports through Aspire’s sportsbook Btobet.

Caesars announces sports betting partnership with Cleveland Cavaliers

Caesars Entertainment has signed a multi-year agreement which will see it named as the official sportsbook partner of NBA side the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The deal will also see Caesars named as the official casino partner for the team.

Plans are also in place to open a retail sportsbook at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse – home of the Cavaliers – pending regulatory approval.

The 10,355 square foot sportsbook will also utilise official Cleveland Cavaliers logos and marks, broadcast and digital content, in addition to TV-visible in-game signage.

The Caveliers deal represents Caesars’ latest sports team agreement. The company has partnered with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts, and Baltimore Ravens, in addition to sponsoring the NHL’s Washington Capitals.

IGT expands in Washington state with Kalispel Tribe deal

International Game Technology (IGT) has signed a multi-year agreement with the Kalispel Tribe of Indians which will see the company expand its sports betting offering to Washington state.

Under the terms of the deal, the Tribe’s Kalispel Casino will use IGT’s technology to power a retail sportsbook, which is due to open at a later date.

IGT first entered the Washington sports betting market in July 2021 via its partnership with Snoqualmie Casino. The company went on to reach a similar agreement with the Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians and their Angel of the Winds Casino Resort in September.

Iowa sports betting handle doubles year-on-year in January

Bettors in Iowa staked $303.3m in the first month of 2022, meaning handle more than doubled year-on-year.

Amounts wagered for January was up 102.9% from January 2021’s $149.5m total figures from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission show.

This was driven entirely by mobile betting, with customers staking $275.9m during the month, a 128.4% jump.

Retail, on the other hand, actually declined from January 2021, with stakes down 4.5% to $27.5m.

Caesars led the way in terms of handle, with customers staking $112.7m through its mobile sportsbook, setting it ahead of DraftKings which reported $68.9m in mobile stakes, and FanDuel on $44.1m.

For retail, it was the FanDuel sportsbook at the Diamond Jo Worth Casino that led the way, with $8.7m staked. Penn National’s Ameristar II in Council Bluffs followed with customers wagering $5.4m at its Barstool Sportsbook, and the Caesars Sportsbook at Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs on $3.9m.

BetMGM launches inaugural regulated Puerto Rico sports betting platform

BetMGM, in conjunction with Casino del Mar, has launched Puerto Rico's first regulated sports betting platform at the casino's La Concha resort.

As of today BetMGM is accepting wagers at the San Juan-based resort through 12 betting kiosks and five betting windows. BetMGM also plans to open a retail sportsbook in addition to launching a mobile app later in the year.

The operator first entered into its strategic partnership with Casino del Mar back in September 2021, with a view to executing today’s sports betting launch.

Affinity Interactive-owned brand Daily Racing Form (DRF) has launched its online sportsbook, DRF Bets, in Iowa.
